No, the hypnotist does not have control of the client's mind, thoughts, or feelings. The client is in control and cannot be forced to do anything they do not want to do.
The hypnotist is there to guide the client to create the change they set out for themself.
When the client is hypnotized, they are not asleep. The client is aware of their surroundings and can hear, speak and do everything as they would normally. If the client wanted to take themself out of hypnosis, they could do so by opening their eyes.
Note: Sometimes clients are so relaxed, they may fall asleep during a session but can be woken up if requested.
The session can take up to an hour, and clients can be hypnotized for different amounts of time. By the end of the session, the client will be taken out of hypnosis.
Hypnosis feels very relaxing, almost as if you are going to sleep.
There is no preparation needed for the session unless directed by the hypnotist. It is recommended to be in a quiet place where there will be no distractions.
In between sessions, it is the client’s responsibility to work on what they have learned in the previous session to create change.
Every individual is different, so there is no set amount of sessions needed. Some clients have been successful with 1-3 sessions, while others would need up to 12 or more. The goal of hypnosis is to get rid of the issue as soon as possible.
